Show WORK STARTS OH HAZE'l TERMINAL The Sparks Forum publishes the following fol-lowing In relation to the extensive work which the Southern Pacific company com-pany has started at Hazen, which is significant in view of the persistent denials which have been made that the railroad would ever establish a terminal at Hazen: "Within a few days a force of men numbering about 60 will be put to work at Hazen for the purpose of completing the round house, constructing construct-ing new buildings and preparing for the making of that town a terminal for the handling of the train sen-ice operating south over the Nevada and California road. "At the present time there is operated oper-ated from Hazen south trains to Mlna and by another line to Fallon. Inadequate Inade-quate accommodations for the proper care of engines and traffic exists at Hazen today and It is for the purpose pur-pose of making Hazen a proper operating oper-ating station for that portion of the road that the new work will be started. start-ed. "From Hazen to Keeler, Cal., the railroad Is officially known as tho Nevada Ne-vada & California railroad. From Mound House to Keeler the road was formerly known as the Carson & Colorado. Colo-rado. After being taken over by the Southern Pacific the Hazen cut-off was built to Fort Churchill thus eliminating elim-inating any diversion of traffic on tho Virginia & Truckec from Reno to Mound House. At present there is operated that portion of the road formerly for-merly used between Mound House and Fort Churchill, but tho through service ser-vice is by way of Hazen. All. of that trackage from Mound House to Fort Churchill and from Hazen south to Keeler, Cal., 1b known by the name of the Nevada A California railroad." |
