Show WAGES CUT ON BANKRUPT ROAD i Far-reaching Precedent Set By Decision of Rail Labor Board (International News Service) CHICAGO. Feb. 18. The United States railroad labor board tonight handed down a decision which will' authorize the reduction of wages 26 per cent under the htandard scale on the Missouri & North Arkansas rall-j road which suspended operations on Jiils 11 The decision was regarded as having far-reaching possibilities, in that it set a precedent. The order is expected to result in reopening the raliroad. which Is the sole transportation facility of HO 000 In 1 5 counties In Missouri and Arkan- sas. Labor men have been keenly interested inter-ested In the case because the receiver of railroad largely based hi" ase n tho fact that the railroud was unable to pay the standard rate of wages Union men contended that the ability of the railroad to pay should not be eonsloered in ilxing wages below those i eai ned on other railroads The receiver proposed that If there Ls any surplus at the end of the v.ar, after operating expenses and th- Interest In-terest on a government loan the road if now seeking are paid. thl balance is to be divided among the men. the own-ors own-ors to receive nothing, until after the Standard wages are restored.
