It Is the plan of this "body to bring together to-gether all of the winners of tho many college associations to compete for the honors of the waxed floor among the colleges of this country. In tho past, the winners have had to enter the A. A. I'. meets H rid this has worked hardships hard-ships on many of the teams who do not play basketball, according to the strict Interpretation of tho rules Many of the basketball officials and fans of the I'nlted Statnea are wrong, When they say that tho colleges play under a different sot of basketball rubs than those used by the athletit clubs and high si hools Then- Is but one difference that I can see and this Is In tho aggressiveness of tho two styles In the colleges a liberal Interpretation In-terpretation of tho guarding rule la permitted, and the guarding can take' part from tho rear so long as the for-! ward progress of the man with the ball Is not impeded In order to mnke, tho game fast and permit this ruling, the officials must follow the ball fast and eall their tleups fast so that no1 rough tatlos ion be used by either the guard or the man with the ball. It takes two weeks at the least to make a trip to the tournament tourna-ment and this time taken out Of their school leaves the athletes back In their work. Consent must also be had from the faculty of the colleges to make tho trips and the men are usually given some work to do on the basketball trip outside of their basketball work.
