Boxing is a fine exen isc for the civilian, but It has Its limitations. By that 1 mean there is an agesllmit that governs tho boxing game Boxing makes for confidence In th- youth, which Is most desirable. While one is never too young to start, there comes a time when age bars the wax : 1'nless the man is a physical marvel' mar-vel' I would say that boxing after 40 Is more Injurious than helpful. it has been proven that boxing is far tool strenuous for most men after they have passed tho 40 mark. It calls for entirely too much heart-nction To get the most good out of boxing, box-ing, those participating must bo the Judge of their physical condition Hy that I mean no one nhould continue to box for i single second after they become fatigued. ol ill: SOME .OOl ADVICE Any exercise which Is taken atter fatigue ha set in, is very harmful. It should be agreed between the boxers box-ers that the moment one of them becomes tired he should have tho right to call time and end the round. I have practiced that theory- In de-j veloplng all my professional boxers. In so doing I have used methods directly di-rectly opposite to those employed by most managers and boxers. However, I have been fairly successful. When my professional boxers are trainlnK for bouts I never ' have tho stop-watch on them to see that each round goes the required limit. Neither Neith-er do I havo a bell to announce the start and finish of a round. I Instruct all my boys to call time the moment they begin to tire. Likewise. Like-wise. I want them to Immediately suspend action the moment a boxor receives a blow that has him on the verge of a knockout. I never want a boy to suffer a knockout In his training work.
