Show Americans Win at Hockey at Olympics; ANTWERP, April 28. America won second place in the Olympic hockey contests, defeating the Czecho Slovaks tonight by a score of sixteen to nothing. noth-ing. The Americans scored almost at will. They will receive the prize tomorrow to-morrow night, The Americans had little difficulty In scoring in the first half of the contest, con-test, although Czecho-Slovaks showed occasional bursts of speed. Seven goals were scored in the first period, while in the second half Larry McCor-mlck McCor-mlck made five of the nine scored by the Americans. The second half was much the same as the first, the Czecho-Slovaks trying hard but ainly, to hold down the count. Tonight's victory gives America Ameri-ca a total of three points in the Olympic Olym-pic ice events which ties with Canada and Finland for third place. Sweden takes first place and Norway second. The American line-up was: Goal, Wilderborner; defense, Fitzgerald Fitz-gerald and Goheen; rover, Synnott; forwards, Conroy, J. McCormick and Larry McCormick. Sweden beat Switzerland in the hockey hoc-key contest late tonight by a acore of four to nothing. Sweden will play the semi-finals tomorrow with the Czechoslovaks. |
