Federal action ac-tion to punish leaders of , tho strike' of railroad workers In tho Now York-New York-New Jersey district was begun in Newark, N J., today when United Stales District Attorney Joseph T. Bodino called a number of witnesses before a grand jury to testify regarding regard-ing the. strike. Virtually all traces of tho strikes now have disappeared, according to statements made by officials of tho various railroads. Claim Improvement. CHICAGO, April 29. Railroads claimed continued improvement in traffic conditions today. The strikers, now in, their fifth week of tho unauthorized unau-thorized walkout, gave no indication, however, .of calling off the strike.
