Show Grand Jury Indicts Profiteering Firms N"V .YORK, April 29. On evidence evi-dence procured by the government's "flying squadron" of profiteer hunters, hunt-ers, the federal grand jury today Indicted In-dicted two firms for alleged profiteering profit-eering in sugar and a third on charges of asking illegal profits on potatoes. Leon Israel and brothers, "Wall street brokers and .importers, wore charged with selling 500 pounds of sugar at 21. 50 cents a pound which they bought at 14. CO cents. Israel is a director of the New York Coffco and Suga exchange. E. R. Shcrbune. who was charged with having sold 9 CO pounds at 21.75 cent3 a pound which he is said to havo bought at 15. CO cents. Andrew Spade, a New York commission com-mission merchant, was indicted on a charge of selling 45,000 pounds of. potatoes po-tatoes at $13.00 a sack of 1C5 pounds which he is said to have purchased at $9. -14. |
