Show BLISTER HANDS TO HELPCHUHGH Members of Priesthood Lay Concrete Base for 14th Ward Basement Twenty-seven men and ten boys, members of tho priesthood of tho new Fourteenth ward, donated three hours' labor on tho new ward chapel last i night, Tho work was carried out under un-der the direction of the ward building commltee. The work undertaken by the priesthood priest-hood consisted of laying a cement base for the floor of the amusement hall in the basement of the building. Although a large number of tno men are not accustomed ac-customed to manual labor, they formed a jolly crowd and worked with a vim. Stiff backs i and blistered hands was the experience gained .by some of tho men who are engaged in clerical and other light labors during the day, but all have expressed their willingness to return to the work next Friday evening eve-ning when it is desired that as many 'members of the priest hood as possible report for work. Rapid progress is being made on the new building and although it is planned plan-ned to complete the basement only for the present, it is anticipated that the building will be ready for use in about two weeks' time. Tho basement in-eludes in-eludes a large amusement hall where Sunday school and other meetings can !be held. There are also a number of class rooms ready for use. The building build-ing occupies a site on Adams avenue between Thirty-seventh and Thirty-eighth Thirty-eighth streets. A large number of women and children chil-dren in tho ward gathered last night to watch the labors of their husbands and fathers and the merry crowd dispersed dis-persed when darkness mado it impos- Isiblo for further operations. no |
