DEMOCSATS DIRECTLY OPPOSE THE SENATE Resolution Considered Deliberate Deliber-ate and Gratuitous Insult to President Wilson. WASHINGTON, Juno 4. Decision not to take action on the senate resolution reso-lution deny President Wilson's request for authority to acoopt a mandates over Armenia was reached tonight by Republican Re-publican leaders of the house. Speaker Glllett told Repubircan members of the forolgn affairs committee, com-mittee, which had reported In favorably, favor-ably, that some members wished to abandon action on the moasurc because be-cause they did not like to arouse dislike dis-like of persons sympathetic with Armenian Ar-menian alms. Democratic members of the com-1 mittee expressed opposition to mo senate resolution In a report presented tonight to the house. The report declared de-clared the language of the senate resolution reso-lution to '"be a direct, deliberate and gratuitous Insult to President Wilson. The report added that the measure "Injects the spirit of political partisanship partisan-ship Into a question of importance to pcaco and civilization." |
