Show Negro Farmers in Conference Con-ference are Taught Thrift TUSKEGEE, Ala.. Jan. 22. Negroes of the United States were called upon to profit by tho lessons of industry and thrift so effectively taught during the war, in declarations adopted here by the twenty-ninih annual negro conference con-ference at Tuskegee Institute. Negro i farmers were especially urged to grow sufficient food for their own need, , raise better livestock and take advantage advant-age of the increased prices of farm products by building better schools, churches and homes. Lynching was deplored In the declarations de-clarations and its practice held as a "cure for nothing." The conference Insisted upon bettor and fairer methods meth-ods of adjusting tho differences between be-tween the races and re-affirmed its opposition to alleged discrimination against the negro on common carriers. More than 1,700 persons of both races attended tho conference. |
