Brough of Arkansas, Ar-kansas, who is mentioned in today's Associated Press dispatches as taking steps to prevent another race clash t in his state, is a former Ogden boy. j J. H Knauss sayshe remembers tho present governor when he was a " young man, just gaining a reputation ; as a public Bpcaker. Ho was known here as Hillman. He is the son of Charles M. Brough, former cashier of the Citizens bank here and one-time mayor of Ogden. Mr. Knauss says the young man became be-came a splendid public speaker when lie was in college. The announcement, ho says, that young Brough was to deliver de-liver a political speech caused laughter laugh-ter until the young orator commenced his talk. Then all thought of ridicule vanished. j |
