Show O'LEARY FACING FEDERAL JURY NEW YORK, Oct. 21. Jeremiah A. O'Leary, arrested on an indictment alleging al-leging conspiracy to commit treason kfnd espionage after his flight last June to the Pacific coast, acted as associate counsel today at the opening of his trial here on the lesser charge of conspiracy con-spiracy to obstruct the nation's mili-tary mili-tary preparations. With the Bull Publishing company and Luther S. Bedford and Adolf Stern, its editor and publisher, O'Leary faced a jury In the federal court iii answer to indictments based on his writings in Bull and other periodicals. No date has been set for the trial of O'Leary and a group of Germans and Americans who are alleged to have j plotted in this country in the interest ' of the German government. The prose-' cution, it is stated, has delayed call-1 ing the case in the hope of bringing j about the arrest of John T. Ryan, a Buffalo, N. Y., lawyer and one of the defendants who Is believed to have ' fled to Mexico. j |
