Stratton, director of the Bureau of Standards, Department of Commerce, has announced his enthusiastic endorsement en-dorsement of the Punctuality campaign cam-paign inaugurated by the Watchmen of America with the slogan1 "On Time In War Time." "I will bo glad to father this campaign cam-paign and placo tho Bureau of Standards Stan-dards behind It to push it in every way possible," said Mr. Stratton. "I would likcto see every business man in the country adopt it and every I working man and woman live up to It. It would mean the speeding up of every ev-ery Industry and help materially toward to-ward winning tho war." Henry D. Hubbard, secretary of the Bureau of Standards gave the idea the same unqualified approval. "I" would suggest as a means of spreading the 'on the Dot' propaganda," propagan-da," said Mr. Hubbard, "that prize contests con-tests for the best composition or essay es-say on the advantages of punctuality be inaugurated among the .school children of towns and cities throughout through-out the country. The local jewelers representing the Watchmen of America Amer-ica might promote these contests and offer the prizes. Such contests would stir the patriotism of the school children chil-dren and instill into their' minds a lesson that would make for their success suc-cess In life. Punctuality is often the corner stone of business success. 'On Time' is a fine slogan for .peace as well as war. The Bureau of Standards Stan-dards will adopt it as'its own and endeavor en-deavor to introduce it into every government gov-ernment department in Washington. It should appeal to every patriotic American as tho vital working motto of the nation." The jewelers in organising themselves them-selves into the Watchmen of America havo offered their shops as correct time service stations and have agreed to adjust and regulate the watches of the public free of charge with the idea of placing the nation on a punctuality basis. |
