Show ARMY OFFICERS ARE ON INSPECTION TOUR SALT LAKE, Oct. 7. For the purpose pur-pose of inspecting vocational training centers here Lieutenant Colonel Ab-ner Ab-ner Payne, Major L. T. Grant, Lieutenant Lieu-tenant R. C. McDowell and Norman Colycr arrived yesterdav from the east They will spend this morning on Inspection and in the afternoon proceed pro-ceed west. The return trip east will bo made through the southern tier of states, inspection stops being made on route. The specific purpose of tho commission commis-sion is to establish methods of training in conformity with military rules and regulations obtaining in the United J States army. Lieutenant Colonel Payne Is a representative of the coast artillery artil-lery section at Fort Monroe, Va., Major Hunt is from the corps of engineers at Camp Humphreys, Va., Lieutenant R. C. McDowell of the air service, Washington, Wash-ington, D. C. Mr. Colyer was formerly an executive ofllcer of the Southern Pacific railroad at San Francisco and is now acting with the commission as representative of education and spec-jial spec-jial training. The junket of inspection was started September 5 and has taken the commission through New England, New York state, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota. The . commission reports findings to the general commission in Washington, D. C. All members of the traveling commission com-mission declined to make statements concerning late developments of the war for publication, but at least one voiced tho sentiment that peace can bo made at this time only on allied terms. "Peace now would bo merely a compromise, com-promise, and any sort of compromise is playing Germany's game," was the declaration. |
