IS SEVERELY SCALDED Henry Doon, the veteran locomotive locomo-tive engineer on the Salt Lake division divi-sion of the Southern Pacific, is in the Dee hospital as a result of very severe se-vere burns by steam. Ho was nearing Lakeside, Friday night, on No. 20, when the steam pipe to the right injector broke, causing steam to escape with such pressure thnt it was impossibe to get it shut off before he was badly burned about tho arms and hands. Mr. Doon will be off from his run for an indefinite period. First aid was given him by an experienced ex-perienced and very efficient nurse who was a passenger on the train. The nurse dressed his arms and hands and thereby gave him relief, which was very fortunate for Mr. Doon as otherwise he would havo had suffered severely until he reached the hospital. Henry Doon ranks as the oldest engineer en-gineer on the Salt Lake division of the Southern Pacific, having run an engine for forty-two years. This is his first accident of a serious nature. He Is well and favorably known in Ogden where he has resided for a number of years. His home is 1728 Washington avenud. The latest reports arc that he is doing do-ing as well 'as can be expected. |
