Show BOY BREAKS NB'CK BUT MAY RECOVER SALT LAKE, Aug. 12 Suffering with a broken neck. Hugh Strlngham, 17 years old, son of N. G. Stringham of 27 South Eighth East street, is at the Latter-day Saints hospital, following fol-lowing an accident that occurred at Moroni, Utah, late Friday afternoon. Ho was brought to Salt Lake yesterday, yester-day, and It was given out last night that, considering tho extremely dan-, gcrous nature of his injury, he is do -1 ing remarkably well and has a chanco for recovery. "Hugh, with hi3 brother, Paul, who Is 18. and several other boys," said N, 1 G. Stringham last night, "wont swlm-j ming in a pond near Moroni. Hugh attempted to divo in too shallow water.' His head struck the bottom so force- j fully that his neck was fractured.' Whon he tried to rise to tho surface immediately, Paul and others of the, party investigated and found him lying ly-ing unconscious on tho bottom of tho . pond. They carried him to the office of Dr. B. C, Linbaugh, whore ho remained re-mained unconscious sovoral hours. Dr. Linbaugh gavo first aid treatment and, ordered him romoved to Salt Lake whero better facilities to fit tho natuifc of tho case were available." The fracture was reduced yestorday by Dr. R. T, Richards, and., while a partial paralysis has resulted, tho youth was said to bo progressing -favorably last night, and hopes aro on-lertalned-for his recovery. |
