Show MAN POWER OF HUNSVERY LOW WITH THE AMERICAN TROOPS IN FRANCE, Wednesday, Sept. 11. In their frantic efforts to stem the tide of entente allied advance, the German Ger-man high command has boon taking divisions out of quiet sectors around Verdun and in tho Woovro and Lorraine Lor-raine whero they 'had been sent to recuperate re-cuperate and, is putting them into the. line nft?r a very brief rest Thq entente allied military authorities authori-ties have compiled Information regarding regard-ing the strain on the German alrendy overdrawn manpower. In a ccrtiin sector four German divisions di-visions were withdrawn after five weeks. They went to a reservo area for five weeks of rest and then went into a big battle. In July another four divisions were withdrawn after being in a quiet sectoi for five and a half weeks. They were allowed to train only two weeks before being engaged again. In August, six divisions were withdrawn with-drawn from a quiet sector but. when they had consumed seven weeks that they wero reconstituted. Thoy wrc then thrown back into the battle almost al-most immediately and they were not allowed complete rest In the reservo area. , Thus it is evident that, while the ' length of time necessary for a deci-! deci-! mated division to recover becomes greater, the lack of effectives makes It necessary for the German high command com-mand to engage a reconstituted division divi-sion in .battle without oven a few days of complete rest |
