Show DR. C. E. BRAIN ON TORPEDOED SHIP SALT LAKE. Sept. 12 Captain C. E. Brain, Salt Lake physician, formerly for-merly residing at the Srubrlck apartments, apart-ments, was among tho survivors from the British liner Persic, which was torpedoed Friday with 2800 American troops aboard, according to information informa-tion received here last night Captain Brain, who was a well-known well-known orthopedic surgeon of this city at tho time th.e United States entered tho war, was among the first of the Salt Lake doctors to volunteer his services to the government. He was commissioned a first lieutenant In the medical corps and sent to Fort Riley, Kan., whero he was assigned to duty at the base hospital. After Lieutenant Brain had been on duty there for a time he was made an instructor in his lino of surgery, nnd spent some time giving instruction at Fort Riley and other camps to newly commissioned doctors. Just recently lie was ordered abroad, it is stated, to take up further work In his special line, but it was not known that he had sailed until news of his rescue from the torpedoed ship was received last night |
