Show ADMIRAL DEWEY NEARINIi THE END Aged Hero of Manila Bay Very Low and Has But Few Hours to Live. Washington. Jan 15. Admiral Dewey, Dew-ey, hero of Manila Bay. who has been confined to his home here for the last rlvo days by a general breakdown, was reported as ' slowly sinking," by his ! doctors at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Washington, Jan. 15. Admiral Dewey's condition was such this morning morn-ing that his doctors said ho was very weak and it was feared his once great ritalitj mik-ht fall at any time. In a bulletin issued this morning by Dr. A. M. Fauntleroy, N. S. N. the 1 senior 6urgeon in charge of the admiral's admir-al's case, and Dr. Luther Sheldon, Jr.. I U. S. N., who is associated with him, (the admiral's condition was stated as follows Admiral Dewey has been suffering ' for the last five days from a general ' breakdown consequent upon his eighty years of age. For several days there was some improvement and at times ! it appeared as if be might rally and succeed in overcoming the depression of certain organs. "Last night the admiral last night fairly well, at times he was irrational I and showed evidences of a gradual j decline "This morning he is very weak and , his general condition is such as to cause fear that his once great vitality may fail at any time."
