MflliSl, PIONEER, IS HERD Charles Weatherston, a pioneer resident resi-dent of Weber count', died yesterday afternoon at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Matilda Folkman, 2415 Jefferson avenue. He was S3 years Did, but seemed to be enjoying rugged health and hi8 death was entirely unexpected. un-expected. He returned to the residence of his daughter, daugh-ter, which had been home to him for some time, about 5 p. m. Until four years ago, his home was in Plain City and since then he had lived in Ogden, with his ! daughter, Mrs. Folkman. He came . to Utah as a Mormon convert, when he was 18 years of age, and for more than a half century served his people ; as a ward teacher and in other capacities. ca-pacities. His lovablo character endeared en-deared him to all who knew him and his passing will be widely mourned. The decesed was born at Newcastle-on-Tyne, England, August 7, 1833, and was baptized into the Mormon church at the age of IS years. He emigrated to the United States In 1S54, going first to Missouri, where he remained until 1S61. He served a two years' mission to England and was for many years a president of Seventies. At the ' time of his death, he was a member of the High Priests' quorum of tho North Weber stake. Mr. Weatherston is survived bv the following children: Charles" W. Weatherston, Rupert, Idaho: Mrs. Ma-tlda Ma-tlda Folkman, Ogden; George F. Weatherston; Plain City; Joseph F. Weatherston, Piano, Idaho; Hvrum Weatherston, Logan, Utah. Fiftv-five grandchildren and IS great grandchildren grandchil-dren also survive. rn |
