Show AMERICAN COAL IS SOLD IN NORWAY Christiana, Norway, .Nov. 30. (Correspondence (Cor-respondence of the Associated Press) Tho Norwegian Coal company which brought the American coal fields on Spitzbergen has now completed the preparatory work for getting the mining min-ing started and this year will have mined more than 50,000 tons 19,000 tons of which already have been exported ex-ported to Norway In the time from August 15 to October 1. It Is the aim of the company in 1920 to have a yearly year-ly production of 400,000 tons. Favorable Favor-able weather for the four months from Juno to September will allow an average aver-age of 100 days for the shipping of the coal and there is no difficulty in keeping the mines going the year around. There are now under construction at Advent Bay great piers with the most modern loading machines so as to permit per-mit the loading of 4,000 tons a day. Later similar facilities will be provided provid-ed at Green Harbor. It is claimed the quality of this coal is superior to the best English coal and the Norwegian industry, navy and mercantile marine will take all they can get oo |
