Denials wero made, however, how-ever, that tho reports had any basis of truth and it was said tho. company had very little wheat unshipped, or for which ocean tonnage had not been provided. On the other hand, peace talk and tho continued railway em-' em-' bargoes operated to prevent a return of bullish confidence. Opening prices, which ranged from the same as yesterday's yes-terday's finish to 2 l-8c lower, with December at 1.65 3-4 to 1.66 and May at ?1.73 1-8 to 1.74, was followed by a decided setback all around. Week-end evening up of trades brought about a subsequent wheat ral- ly. The close was nervous, 5-8 lo lc net lower -with December at ?1.G6 and May at to 1.73 1-4. Later comparative strength in corn developed when wheat displayed some power to recover. The close was unsettled un-settled 1-Sc off to 1-ic up as compared com-pared with yesterday's finish. |
