Show RAWLINS MAY BE BARRED BY AGE Word was received from Washington Washing-ton yesterday that former United States Senator Joseph B. Rawlins is not eligible to appointment to United States" appellate bench. Eighth district, dis-trict, on account of his age. President Wilson has made it a rule since ho entered the White House to appoint no one to the bench who was more than 60 years of age, and has adhered strictly to the rule oven in the case of close personal friends. Utah Democrats, however, feel that the state is entitled to some recognition recogni-tion from the administration, and in case Senator Rawlins withdraws from tho race for the appellate bench, it is probable that the appointment of Frank K. Nebeker of Salt Lake to the position will be urged. Mr. Nebeker m is 47 years of age, has had a wldo experience in legal matters peculiar to the western country and is a proml- . K nen. worker of the Democratic party. ft Mr, Nebeker, however, declines to B discuss the matter or to entertain the B proposition of entering the race for j B the appellate bench unless Mr. Raw- IB lins voluntarily withdraws.
