' The Young Ladies' Mutual Improvement Im-provement association ot tho Second Ward held a literary night Wednesday evening In the ward amusement hall", beginning at 7:30 o'clock. Among the numbers given wore "Tho Ambitious Am-bitious Guest" by Hawthorne and "Thiee Questions' by Tolstoi, after which art and needlework was done by the girls for the btnefit oi the relief society bazaar. In addition ad-dition to an excellent program of dance numbors, refreshments will be sened. TO VISIT FAIRS. Mr. and Mrs. II. C. Bigclow, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Todd of Hooper, Hoop-er, air. and Mrs. E L. Van Meter and Mr. and Mrs J. J. Singleton departed Wednesday over the Southern Pacific for California. Cali-fornia. They will make an extended tour of the coast and will visit both expositions. RETURN FROM COAST. Mr. and Mrs Sherman R. Mattson returned home Sunday from a pleasant pleas-ant three weeks' honeymoon trip to tho California expositions They also spent a few days with Mr. Mattson's sister, Mrs. L.. Purdy at Imlay, Xev. Mrs. Mattson was Miss Mae Schofield before her marriage. They will depart for Alexander, Ida., tomorrow, where they will make their home. FAREWELL PARTY. Monday evening Mrs. Lawrence Noble No-ble was tendered a pleasant farewell party by members of the Clematis club at her apartments In the Corey. Mrs. Noble will leave shortly for Salt Lake, where Mr Xoblo is engaged in business. The evening was pleasantly spent, Mrs. Noble giving several piano selections selec-tions The club presented Mrs. Noble No-ble with two lovely cutglass pieces, one a domino sugar holder and the other a berry dish. Later delicious refreshments re-freshments were served covers being laid for the following Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Noble, Mesdames Coppock, Olson, Roberts, Brown, Wilson, Cramer, Cra-mer, Hopson, Calvert, Bond, Hadlock. Peterson, Holland, Trorllcht Eggles-ton, Eggles-ton, Dowallby, Pimlet, Carr, Ljghtner and Miss Bertha Noble. Mrs. Noble has many iriends in Ogden Og-den who regret her departure. BIRTHDAY SURPRISE. Monday, November loth, being the anniversary of the birthday of the Commander of Silver Review No. 1. Woman's Benefit Association of the Maccabees, the officers of the Review perpetrated a surprise on the lady. A pleasant evening was spent In games, conversation, and good wishes wish-es for the health and happiness of Mrs. Holden. Delicious refreshments were enjoyed by all. and while the ladles were at the table. Mrs. Holden was presented with a vase in token of the love and esteem In which she is held by the lodge.
