Show LEADERS CALLED TO WHITE HOUSE Senator Gallinger and Representative Repre-sentative Mann Confer With PPresident on National Defense. NON - PARTISAN PLAN Republican Leaders of Senate and House Military and Naval Committees to Meet Before Congress Opens. Washington, Nov. 20. President Wilson today asked Senator Gallinger and Representative Mann, Republican leaders of the senate aud house, respectively, re-spectively, to confer with him before the opening of congress on legislation for national defense. The time of the conference will be arranged to suit the two leaders. The president sent the invitations in accordance .with his announced plan of making the fight for military preparedness along non-partisan lines. The University of Maine today won the eighth intercollegiate intercol-legiate cross-country run held over a six-mile course in Franklin Park. J. Woverton of Yale, was the first runner run-ner to finish. His time was 32 minutes min-utes 21 1-5 seconds. |
