The seven Villlsta6 who were captured after the raid on Columbus and convicted of murder in the first degree were condemned con-demned to death today by Judge Edward Ed-ward L. Medler. The date of the execution ex-ecution was Bet for May 19. The prisoners pris-oners pleaded that they were Ignorant Ignor-ant of where they were going at the time of tho raid and that they were forced to follow Villa under penalty of death. Six of the bandits listened unmoved to the sentences of death, but the seventh. Jose Rangel, who had been wounded In the raid, and was carried Into court on a cot, cried piteously for mercy. Judgo Medler ordered the prisonors sent to the Santa Fe penitentiary for safe keeping.
