DEPOSITED The contract between Jack Harb-ertson Harb-ertson and Pat Brown for a finish wrestling match to decide the middleweight middle-weight championship of the world was bound yesterday by the depositing by each of the wrestlers of $500 to in-Bure in-Bure his appearance on the mat at the Alhambra theatro on the night of May 16. The forfeit money was deposited de-posited with T. Samuel Browning, and today a certified check for $1,500 the guaranteed amount to be given Pat Brown at the close of tho bout, win, lose, or draw was deposited with Mr. Browning by the Alhambra Theatrical company, promoter of the match. Harbertson opened his training season sea-son yesterday at tho Pingree gymnasium, gym-nasium, with Art Chester and Sam Clapman, the "British Lion," as wrestling wrest-ling partners, and with Georgo Jenkln-sou Jenkln-sou to pace him on the road. Last night Brown had a good workout work-out with Walter Miller at Billings, Montana, losing to Miller In a handicap handi-cap match. The champion had agreed to throw Miller twice in 90 minutes, but failed to do so. The bout was in no way a championship affair. It is expected that the champion will return to Utah the latter part of the week to continue his process of taking off weight and getting into condition con-dition to meet Harbertson. |
