Show HISPEEULTIXES 1ST BE RENEWED Salt Lake, Jan. 4, Special taxpayers taxpay-ers under the internal revenue emergency emer-gency act will be required to renew their special taxes before January 31, 1916, or 50 per cent of the tax, as a specific penalty, will automatically become be-come a part of the tax due, according accord-ing to an announcement made yesterday yester-day by John Griffin, deputy collector in charge of the revenue stamp office of-fice here. Those who come under the act are bankers, brokers and proprietors pro-prietors of theatres, public exhibitions, exhibi-tions, bowling alleys, billiard halls and dealers in tobacco, etc. Between now and the end of the month special tax stamps will be issued is-sued for the six-month period ending June 30, 1916, which is the end of the internal revenue fiscal year, and if those who come under the act have not purchased stamps before January Janu-ary 31 it will cost them 50 per cent additional. Forms are being mailed out to the taxpayers, and if certified checks or money orders are mailed to the office of-fice In Salt Lake along with forms properly filled out and sworn to, it is suggested that a long delay may be avoided. The revenue office will be closed during the noon hour and will close earlier in the afternoon to en- able the office force to get out the g. daily reports. It also was announced that returns of corporation and income taxpayers should be filed with the collector of internal revenue at Helena not later M than March 1, 1916, after which they become delinquent and are liable to Hr severe penalties.
