Show INFANTRY SENT TO TEXAS BORDER General Funston to Concentrate Concen-trate Force at Brownsville to Handle Recalcitrant Mexicans. Washington, Aug. 12. General Funston reported today that he had sent a battalion of the Ninth infantry from Laredo to Brownsville, Texas. He made no request, however, for additional ad-ditional troops. War department officials would not discuss reports that secret organizers in Texas were nlignlng Mexicans under un-der the "plan of San Diego." Whether Wheth-er General Funston has communicated communica-ted these reports was not disclosed. It was apparent however, that he had decided to concentrate a considerable force In the Brownsville district where the trouble appears to center. Mauser Rifles Found. Corpus Christ!, Texas. Aug. 12. A quantity of Mauser rifles today was found concealed under brush by rang ers and troops near Mercedes, aecord' ing to word, brought here. The incident inci-dent bolsters the belief of the zu- , thorlties that the Mexican raiders are organized with the assistance of Mexicans Mexi-cans from across the Rio Grande The equipment is said to be similar to that used by the Carranza forces. oo |
