Show GIRLS RAISE PEPPERS. Some 2,000 packets of Spanish pepper pep-per seed were distributed early in the spring in the States of tN'orth and South Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, nnd Florida by tho department's depart-ment's specialists in charge of club work in tho South, in co-operation with the State colleges of agriculture. Tho girls who received these seeds wore chosen by tho district and county coun-ty agents because of tlielr efficiency In previous club work They agreed to plant no other peppers and to follow fol-low the Instructions of the agents, not only in growing and canning tho poppers, pop-pers, but in saving tho seod. Spanish peppers aro highly prized by the girls, and as tho peppers are easily cross-pollenized, cross-pollenized, every precaution will be taken to keep the peppers truo to variety, and to dlstrlbuto widely tho seed saved. The packets contained enough sood to plant possibly one-twentieth one-twentieth of an acre. Some of the girls report having obtained as high as SO excellent plants, which, because of their heavy yielding qualities, will probably furnish all of the peppers the girls will want to handle.
