Show uu MAYORS SEEK TO HUE PICTURE OF THE IJ P. BUILDER Learning of the death of General Grenvllle M. Dodge of Council Bluffs, and knowing of his part in the building build-ing of the Union Pacific railway, May-, May-, or A. R. Heywood today addressed a letter to the executors of his will asking ask-ing that a picture be furnished the city that it might be placed on the walls of the city hall building. Mayor Heywood states that Geenral Dodge will be remembered by a number num-ber of people of Ogden. both among railroad men and members of the G. A. R. and he is of tho opinion that It will bo fitting to place tho general's picture in the city building out of respect to him a sa builder of the great transcontinental line through Ogden. It Is said that General Dodge left an estate valued at about $1,000,000, leaving at least $150,000 of it for public pub-lic institutions. Following is Mayor Hey wood's communication: com-munication: "Executors of the will of the Late Granville M. Dodge, Deceased, Council Bluf-fs, la., Gentlemen: In view of the career of tho "General" being so interwoven in-terwoven with the early history of the Union Pacific Railroad Company which has had bo much to do with tho importance of Ogden, I pray you will furnish tor hanging in the City Hall a credible plctyre of him, with such inscription in-scription thereon as will bo suitable I for the coming time." |
