The posslbil- H ' -ty of the proposed Willard-Moran H fight being held anywhere from Madl- H son Square Garden to Lower Califor- H i nia was evident tonight when promot- H ers from all over the country arrived H ' here in an effort to obtain the signa- H ' tures of Joss Willard, heavyweight H champion, to a contract. H The announced conference between H Tom Jones, Willard's manager, and H Jack Curley, a promoter, this after- H noon was unproductive of finalities. H Curley. it developed, Is financing the H fight in his own interest and is not H ! , representing Sam McCracken and Tex Hl RIckard, as had been announced. Billy H Wellman, a New York promoter, ar- H rived today and is handling the Mc- H Cracken-Rickard interests, it was an- H nounced, H : ' Barney Oldfield, the automobile rac- B cr, also entered a bid for the heavy- weight classic. He is representing Jim Coffroth, the San Francisco manager, man-ager, and is anxious to have the fight held at Tia Juana, Mexico, in Lower California. Jim Johnston, manager of Madison Square Garden, is expected here tomorrow, to-morrow, Jones said. Another New Yorker, whose name Jones withheld, also was expected to arrive to enter a bid for the match. New Orleans Is still to be considered, according to Jones, and several other offers are under consideration. "This is purely a business matter, and I am going to take the best offer," declared Jones following his talk with Curley this afternoon. "I am not seating sea-ting the round limit of the match in the fight articles. If the highest bidder bid-der calls for a ten-round match, ten rounds it will be." He said that all the bids received had been around the $30,000 mark and some had offered substantial bonuses for Willard's signature. sig-nature.
