Show ENGINEER IN CHARGE OF CONSTRUCTION OAS RETURNED W. F. Woodworth, the engineer in charge of the laying out of the line for the five mile stretch of double : track soon to be constructed between East Ogden and Gateway, for the Union Un-ion Pacific railroad, returned to Ogden Og-den this morning from Omaha. He was in Omaha last week to perfect his plans for the double track and to secure approval by the chief engineer. engi-neer. His mission was accomplished and, after a brief stay in Ogden, he went out to the scene of operations in Weber canyon. News was received todav from an authentic source that the Christenson ' Construction company of Salt I?.ke City, which has the grading contract for the double track, has a crew of men at Susanvllle, Cal., loading some of its grading equipment an cars for shipment to East Ogden. The company com-pany is also putting up a camp on the proposed line of the double track and is shipping out food and other supplies. It is thought by local officials of the Union Pacific that it will still be a few days before active grading operations op-erations will commence and that upwards up-wards of 500 men wll be employed on the construction work before it is completed. Local employment agents state that the Christenson companj has not yet placed orders for men with them, hut the company has been gien assurance that it will not have to go out of Ogden to get all the ' laborers needed. In the meantime, the city is filling up with unemployed men who have heard of the work that is about to be started. |
