Show oo PLEDGES ARE GIVEN FOR NEXT YEAR'S CHAUTAUQUA i The splendid attendance at the Chautauqua last night was an evidence evi-dence that the people of Ogden did not desire that institution to lapse and before the evening session began, Dr. E. P. Mills asked that they give a substantial expression of their views, by pledging themselves to bear a share of the deficit which might result re-sult through having a Chautauqua next year. For this purpose cards were passed around and this morning Dr. Mills stated that, from the number num-ber of pledges that he received, he was confident that a Chautauqua for next year Is assured. 1 In making this statement, he did not know how many pledges had been received by the four or more other directors of the association to whom they were handed last night, so a 1915 Chautauqua may be looked upon as virtually a sure thing It will not be finally decided upon, however, until the next meeting of the directors, which is to be held on July 28. A number of articles found on the grounds have been turned over to Dr. Mills and the persons to whom they belong can get them by calling at his office. nn |
