Show I CONFERENCE HELD I BY WEBER STAKE . The Quarterly conference of the Weber We-ber stake was held yesterday at Hooper, with sessions at 10 a. m. and 2 p. m. The principal speakers at the conference were Apostles Francis Fran-cis M. Lyman and James E. Talmage. At the morning session there were H 820 people present and in the after- noon the attendance was 844. ' The Ogden people made the trip . to Hooper on a special DeDnver & Rio Grande train at 9 a. m and during ! the noon hour, all of the people at the conference were seated at tables and served with an excellent dtn-: dtn-: ner by the people of Hooper. ! At the morning session. President John Watson of the Weber stake gave the annual report of the stake presidency. presi-dency. The report showed the different dif-ferent organizations to be in good condition with a notable increase of attendance at meetings and of interest in-terest taken in the work, during the quarter. The ward teachers depart ment was also doing more and better bet-ter work, the report stated. The principal addresses were made by the two visiting apostles, who talked along doctrinal lines, regarding regard-ing both temporal and spiritual work that was necessary to be done by the people. Apostles Lyman and Talmage also gave the principal addresses in the afternoon and their remarks were added to by President C- F. Middle-ton Middle-ton in an interesting manner. At the afternoon session, the general gen-eral and stake authorities were unanimously unan-imously sustained by the congregation, congrega-tion, when their names were presented present-ed In Stake Clerk Evert Xeuteboom. The conference was held in the open air and this Innovation was greatly appreciated by all present. During the lunch htiur. the Hooper band gave an excellent concert and. aB an additional treat, the people were served with ice cream and ice water. The Ogden people returned home on the special at 5 p. m., and the consensus of opinion was that the conference was one of the most enjoyable en-joyable and successful that was ever held in the stake. |
