A llurrall of that city giving an ancount of a casual patient who railed nt hla offlre and showed a wonnd he had received on hla left forearm, fore-arm, aa :ie supposed from a kissing bug. lie asked for treatment, and the result of the examination and treatment treat-ment l)r llurrall aeta forth aa fol-luw' fol-luw' The unit ml was received on the morning uf July , and I found on examination that near the rapltulum ulnae was an elevation of about the diameter of a silver 3-cent piece, resembling re-sembling In shapo a smsll nasturtium On this were four dlstlnrt longitudinal vrslclee, the longest about the eighth of an Inch In length. The wrist and back uf the hand were awolten and flexion and extension of the Angers waa ammipuiW with pain and stiff-ne. stiff-ne. A diffused red. erysipeloid eruption extended from the wound to the bond of the elbow, covering nearly half the circumference of the forearm at Ha tipper part. There waa no pain on pressure In the axilla. The patient did not complain of great pain, nor was there much constitutional dla-turhanre. dla-turhanre. On the day before my pa-tlent pa-tlent said he had been driving on Long Island, and bad been bitten by an Insect In-sect which he had supposed to be a 'kissing bug,' although he had not aeen It. He had done nothing for the bite, thinking It would heal spontaneously My treatment consisted In painting the Inflamed area wllh the tincture of Iodine and directing the patient to take a one-tenth grain tablet of the sulphide of calcium every two hours. He waa also directed to apply carbolic acid ointment upon the parte and cover thla with a linen cloth. Thla treatment waa followed by rapid Improvement. Im-provement. The next day the eruption erup-tion had retreated to within two Inches of the wrist, and now the Angers An-gers move freely and painlessly, and the eruption haa almost entirely disappeared. dis-appeared.
