Show RUSHING WORK IN SUM CANYON In an effort to retain its right of way through 3alina canyon, tin Denver Den-ver & Rio Grande Railroad company Wednesday telegraphed hurry orders to thn Utah Construction company to send as many teams and as many men as possible to Salina to begin work on reconstructing the gradi through the canyon at once. The actlvitj of the Denver & Ti'.n Grande, it is understood is to forestall fore-stall building of a line through the canyon by the Salina Canyon railroad, Which was recently incorporated by Salt Lake promoters and capitalists for $2ui1,0mi The Rio Grande is tin first on the ground, and it is said the light may be carried to the courts When the Salina Canyon railroad was incorporated it waa announced that It would build a line thirty miles long from Salina through Salina can yon to the coal fields and agricultural regions south of the pass. Early this week minors were current that officers offi-cers of the Salina Canyon railroad had asked for bids for the consi ruction ruc-tion of the line through the canon. and as soon as the Denver & Rio Grande got wind of the report telegraphic tele-graphic orders from the office of Gen oral Manager W S. .Martin in Denver followed. The recent visit of Vice President E L. Brown and General Manager Martin to Salt Lake also had a bearing bear-ing upon the hurry call to start the work. |
