El Paso, Tex., April 28 A train-load train-load of refugees which arrived today from Durango, and Chihuahua. Mext co. reported that quiet prevailed in the districts through which they passed. pass-ed. Tbey declared that Theodore Hamm, United States consul at Durango. Du-rango. had left Torreon, which is also under his jurisdiction, with them, but later turned back. The refugees said they believed he had heard of Americans Ameri-cans in the mountains who had not been warned to leave the country. The report that Saltillo had been occupied by rebels under General Francisco Cos. which has been received re-ceived here from Chihuahua is discredited dis-credited by Constitutionalist agents here. They declare Cos has only about 4500 men while the Federal garrison gar-rison of Saltillo, reinforced by the fugitives fu-gitives from the federal garrison at Monterey is believed to number 10,-000. |
