Show uu I PASSENGERS ESCAPE INJURY IN WRECK Salt Lake, April 17. Serious injury to passengers and train crew was, narrowly averted when the MaryBvale-Salt MaryBvale-Salt Lako passenger train on the San pete branch of the Denver & Rio ! Grande railroad was wrecked by a derailment near Indlanola at 3 o'clock yesterday aftornoon. A special train sent from Provo brought train crew and passengers to Salt Lake, arriving here shortly after midnight. The exact cause of the wreck has not been ascertained, it Is said. The , tender of the locomotive was derailed first, the trucks brcaklug from the tender and resulting in derailment of the mail car, baggage car and one coach. In spite of the fact that the cars turned over, all on board escaped without serious injury. Conductor B. Robbins and Engineer James Ba-less" Ba-less" manned a handcar and went to Thistle for assistance. A wrecking crew was sent out last night to clear the track and pick up the wrecked cars. |
