Show PROTEST AGAINST LEASING OF LAND Washington April 17. Governors William Spry, Utah; E. M. Amnions, Colorado, and Tasker L, Oddie, Nevada, Ne-vada, are expected here early next week to appear before the senate and house public lands committees and in opposition to proposed legislation to lease the public lands by the federal fed-eral government, and to protest to tho president and secretary of the Interior In-terior against the extreme conservation conserva-tion methods being followed in withholding with-holding lands in public land states from entry and patent under existing land laws. The house public lands committee today authorized a favorable report upon a resolution introduced by Representative Rep-resentative Kent of California, au thorizing the secretary of the interior to make an approximate classification classifica-tion of all remaining public lands suitable for grazing, which are un-timbered un-timbered and not susceptible of irrigation, ir-rigation, at reasonable cost, and to report a definite plan for their disposition dis-position by leasing. The resolution has the support of the interior department de-partment and forestry bureau, but will be opposed by western members of congress.. Salt Lake. April IS. Governor Spry left for Washington yesterday on the Overland limited. He had expected to be joined by Governor Oddie of Nevada, but at the last moment a telegram was received from the latter lat-ter stating that he would be unable to make the trip. Serious illness of Governor Oddle'n mother prevented the Nevada official from leaving home.
