Tho story of a boy who ran away from home, and died a few days ago, leaving a for-tunc- of ?500,000 Tor his aged father, was revealed here today when J. N. Noyes departed for Vernon, Cal., to take charge of his son's body. Noyes was 16 years old when his mother died. His father married again and soou after the son disappeared, I leaving a note that ho had gone west to seek his fortune. The father Instituted In-stituted a vain nationwide search. A few days ago Mr. Noyes received a letter from a law firm of Vernon apprising ap-prising him of the death of his son, who had nssumed tho name of Frank L. Henderson. Henderson had mado a fortune in oranges, the attorney's letter said. A few minutes before he died, Henderson Hen-derson asked that his fathor be notified. noti-fied. According to the letter received re-ceived by Noyes, his son In 1909 married a young woman of Vernon, who hud a small fortune In her own name. She died a few months ago. |
