Show JUDGE CRIOESTER IS UNDECIDED AS TO POLITICS John F. Chidister, former judgo of the Sixth district, stopped oft in Ogden Og-den a short time today on his way to Dcwcyvillc, where he will attend a family reunion before returning to Richfield, his home. Judge Chidister is spoken of a possible pos-sible candldnte for- congress on the Republican ticket and it is said that ho has a strong following in the cow counties of the stato. Ho states, however, that ho is undecided whether to get In the raco. Two years aco Judce Chidister tried for- the nom ination but failed through a combination combina-tion of circumstances which gave the nomination to Jacob Johnson of the south part of tho state, precluding any other candidate from that section from further consideration, as it was conceded that there should be a candidate can-didate from the north district and Congressman Howell had tho nomination nomina-tion from that section In his vest pocket. It is stated by Judge Chidister, bowevor, that thore may be many viewpoints when candidates on the Republican ticket are selected this year and that at the present time the field appears to be opon to all comers. lie thinks the southern part of the state will be given one of the candidates for congress and that it is possible that Congressman Jacob Johnson will not be the choice or he may not strive for tho honor at all. He thinks It is possible, too, thht tho people outsido tho district embraced em-braced by Salt Lake, Tooele and Summit Sum-mit counties might Belect a man from north of Salt Lake county, putting Weber county in a favorable position. |
