Show SPECIAL TRAIN BRINGS BODY TO OGDEN Funeral services for Cornelius T. Richmond, the oldest employe In point of service in Utah of the Denver &-Rio &-Rio Grande railroad, were held in the Third ward chapel at 10 it) o'clock this morning. Mr Richmond was a former resident resi-dent of Ogden and his body was brought from Salt Lake, where he died Monday, to be buried beside his wife and children in the City cemetery. ceme-tery. Out of respect to the old employe, the Rio Grande placed a special train at the .disposal of relatives and friends of the dead conductor, and the train, which consisted of four cars, arrived here at 10 o'clock this morning morn-ing bringing 200 mourners, among whom were members of the Salt Lake lodge No 85, B P. O. E., the Order of Railway Conductors and the Ladles' Auxiliary. The car In which the body had been placed uas stacked with flowers. The funeral cortege formed at the Union depot and proceeded to the Third ward chapel. For those who did not take carriages, the Rapid Transit company had provided two special street cars. The sendees at the chapel were presided over by Bishop W. D. Van Dyke. Tributes of respect to the memory of the veteran railroad man were paid by President C. F Middle-ton, Middle-ton, Rev. P A Simpkiu of Salt Lake and Patriarch G W Larkin Patriarch Larkin was a conductor on the Central Pacific at the time Cornelius Richmond was a conductor on the Union Pacific. Both hnndled emigrant trains and upon reaching Ogden the train handled by Mr Richmond Rich-mond was given over to the charge of Mr. Larkin. Mrs. Marv Farley sang "Face to Face" and '"Sometime We'll Understand Under-stand " "O Mv Father" 'was given by Mrs. Artie Blakely and Mrs Ber-, nice Krick9on sang "O. Loe Divine." The pall bearers, members of the Salt Lake lodges of Elks and Conductors, Con-ductors, were W. A. Lansford, F. E Sleley, J. Percy, J. S. Verelliue, A. Turner and Albert White At the family plot in Ogden City cemeter , E A Larkin dedicated the grave. The friends and relatives returned re-turned to Salt Lake on the special Rio Grande train at 2 o'clock this afternoon. |
