Show STORE ROBBED 1 DURING THE 11 NIGHT I Three cash registers In the Rlch-ardson-Hunt store at 2419 Washington Washing-ton avenue were robbed last night and the evidence points to an "inside" job. It is thought that the thieves were hidden in tho store at the time the place was closed and then began their operations. Tho work Is bc-lleed bc-lleed to have been done by amateurs. Tho safe which stands near the private office, had not been touched, but In their clumsy efforts at opening tho door to tho office, the Intruders had broken a pair of scissors which had been taken from a case nearby. In opening the registers, tho no-sale key had been pressed and checks and pennies were left About the 6tore were scattered burnt matches that had been lighted to guide the thieves. When the registers had been robbed, rob-bed, the exit was made through the back door which was readily opened from the inside. There are four cash registers in the store but only three had been tampered with. I am certain that tho work was done by amateurs," said E. T. Richardson, Rich-ardson, one of the proprietors today, "and I believe that tbose who did the robbing were hidden iside tho store when wo closed. Not much was taken tak-en because wo leave only little change in the registers to bo used by those w ho open the store for early morning shoppers." The police who have investigated the matter bolievo the work to be that of boys. |
