AN EXCITING SCENE ON TWENTY FIFTH STREET when cooks in a restaurant pursue a fellow who made a dis ohp throng on twenty fifth street tuesday night was treated to the spectacle icle of one man away from two pursuers all 0 whom were armed ivita long knives belore tb quickly changing tragedy in real me could come to a climax pender and geant tout interfered with what otherwise might have been a curving carnival subsequent investigation indicated that alfred humphreys was the abie offender so he was promptly placed under arrest and booked in the register at the jail his knife was taken away from him as he was disposed to use it being imbued with a fighting spirit that would have honored a better cause his companions in the spectacular exhibition were cooks from a nearby near by coffee house but they were to take part against humphreys to protect themselves and the waitresses in ahe restaurant humphreys went into the place to obtain a light meal while the repast was being served he attempted to take liberties with the waitresses that did not meet with their approval incensed be drew a long knife and after insulting everybody in sight started to dear the house tt cooks hearing the noise came to the front to investigate but were drives back they armed themselves wita butcher knives and renewed their investigations humphreys was disposed to fight against odds but his cour age failed abia he ran tor the booi pursued by tha cooks who followed him to the sidewalk
