| Show SEVEN TROUGHS mining man returns from camp an enthusiast on its merits heralda on his own account and in the interests oi a number ot operators ano have holdings la the seven troughs mining companas comp anys property in the seven troughs district R J evana has been making an inspection of the mine he returned yesterday morning absolutely convinced that the property was a big one and that the camp the entire camp was one of exceptional merit ite states that salt lakers are going to make the mistake of their lives it they dont capture nd business of the seven troughs camp he cites that this city let tonopah ana get away from i and ho declares that neither of them big as they have been and are will begin to rank with sn troughs when once the camp has squared away for action yesterday afternoon n evans prepared a statement which be is going to submit to those who were largely responsible for his trip to the mine from it the following extracts are made 1 I found the surface improvements to consist of an engine house enclosing an engine capable of handling the whole of the present work to the depth ot fet a blacksmith shop tool room change room and a good ore house A splendid two compart ment shaft to the depth of feet well timbered and at each station by electricity furnished by the companas Comp anys own works on the surface at a point on the vein some fifty feet from the present working shaft and in a gully marks the only place where the ore Is exposed and there only tor some few inches covering the width of tho trail made by the deep and furnishing the inducement du cement tor further prospecting by the discoverers going down the shaft to ahe foot level I 1 found vein was encountered a few feet from the shaft by a crosscut cross cut and that drifts north end adouth for a distance of feet or more were all in oro and exposing a streak of high grade on the foot wall benenty biye feet or more in length the vein Is white quartz and some ten or twelve feet wide with the white quartz or pay shoot twelve to sixteen inches tho values contained in this shoot run from 10 to per pound the next three teet of ore laying on lie line to the high grade shoot will carry values from 25 to 60 per ton and the balance 5 to 16 per ton on the foot level I 1 bound a similar condition to that on the foot level but a greater strength to the vein the jaw eiry shop as the pay shoot la commonly designated was fully two teet wide where opened the ore conditions are about ane same as on the foot level as to the amount of work done and exploration of the pay shoot and in addition thereto the company has extended the drift on the north eido some feet on the vein in a good grade of ore and carrying values from 2 to 00 per ton on the and foot levels while the work has not been so tar advanced as on the foot level the conditions aro identical with those on the foot level as far as work has advanced and the showing lq equally encouraging the shaft being perpendicular di and the vein having a dip of some 76 degrees the amount of work necessary to reach the vein increases aa depth la gained 1 I would not attempt to give any kind of accurate estimate of ore in sight in ehte property and I 1 defy any expert in the world to go into this mine and do sampling without a mill test that would be at all reliable I 1 might however give you some idea by a few calculations suppose we figure the vein to the foot level continuous that Is tour flotha of its present depth then figure fifty feet in length on the vein one halt its present development and then say three feet wide development showing it to be six to twelve feat we will say the ore averages SOO per ton wh ilein reality the least ever found in tha quartz vein after eliminating all rock that shows free gold values in sorting has never run under per ton and from that to mora than 2000 per ton thus we have feet of depth fifty feet of length by three teet of width or a total of bublo feet allowing twelve cubic feet per ton 0 ore which Is high we have tons of ore that is worth per ton or these calculations are made from one fraction of the ore body on the north end on the south the vein has been opened for a distance of feet in drifting and appears even richer than on tho north side and samples taken every ten feet shows the ore body to carry ranging from 32 to per ton the width of this vein has not not been fully developed J find tho hao arranged with parties in lovelock who have a little furnace capable of reducing from to pounds of this fabulously rich ore per day upon my arrival there a fifty alx pound run as the initial trial was made the returns from the fifty mx pounds of ore in gold and silver waa a brick weighing ounces and carrying better than 1600 in gold in addition to its silver values |
