Show ATTEMPT AT W E kibner CAUGHT SAWING WAY OUT had secreted steel saw and was only frustrated in effort by sheriff balrig warned from thursdays standard A desperate attempt was made late vesi erday afternoon by W E kisner who Is incarcerated in the county jail awaiting trial on the charge ot burglarizing glar izing the store of george A lowa 6 co to break jail and liberate the other prisoners owing to the of the sheriff and the fact that two of the prisoners refused to have anything to do with he affair and had warned the sheriff the plan was discovered and elsner ls now languishing in solitary confinement in some way the man secured possession of a steel saw and had succeeded in cutting the two lower bars of his cell and was working on the upper bars when the attempted break was frustrated for several days sheriff bailey has been aware that a break was to be attempted but has allowed the men to go on with their plans until tha time was ripe for him to step in and end the struggle all day the men bad been singing and talking in a loud tone of voice and the sheriff decided that the time was ripe for him to intervene during the afternoon the men were particularly noisy and so after the supper had been served he ordered deputy sheriff sebring to remain in the cell corridor while he went out locking the door behind him no sooner had the door closed than kisner got busy with the saw again and sebring going noiselessly along the corridor pushed his revolver in the mans face and confronted him at his work so surprised was kasner that be tell back in astonishment ish ment leaving the saw sticking in the bar which he was cutting no ceremony was wasted in getting kisner out of his cell and putting him in tae new part of the jail where he will have to repent of his tolly at leisure As a result of his attempted break kisner now has two charges hanging over his head one of burglary and the other of jail breaking where the man secured the saw Is a mystery as he was thoroughly searched when he entered the jail and the only theory Is that he must have a confederate on the outside and even that theory is scarcely tenable as no ono has visited the man since his arrest v hof is not known to the sheriff or to his deputies in appearance kisner is a mere boy with an innocent face and deformed toot that would incite pity but that he Is old in crime there Is no doubt and it was evident when he appeared in court at his preliminary hearing that that was not the first occasion on which he had appeared in a court of justice had kisner succeeded in cutting out of his cell into the corridor without being discovered it would have been but a few minutes before he would davs succeeded in cutting through the outer wall to the jail yard and liberty MRS WHY WINS SUIT
