ODD FELLOWS philadelphia sept 18 disagreeable weather conditions marked the formal opening today of the eighty first annual communication of the sovereign grand lodge of the independent order of odd fellows the initial exercises were held in lulu temple which was entirely inadequate to accommodate the crowds every jurisdiction of the order in the united states Is represented at the conclave the representative of grand sire wryght shows the total subordinate lode membership to be encampment camp ment membership lie ackah membership number i subordinate lodges expends expendi arcs tor relief total bevc buea total resources 37 continuing the report flatea the increase in membership of lodges was in the branch in the re akah branch making a total nerease ot the patriarch Hlll tant will chow a decrease in icem ler ship but that decrease is only nom nal and doubtless results from a clear ng out of names that would not rep present active members of that branch fhe increase in receipts for the year was the increase in resources wae and the increase in relief the mallant branch alone in our organization fails 0 show substantial progress there las been a loea in membership during the year of a little over this condition of affairs in my judgment demands immediate attention and perhaps radical measure
