| Show UNION MEETING bunday addressed by ass maud may bab cock of salt lake sunday at 2 p m was held in weber stake academy the regular union meeting of weber stake the feature of the afternoon was a lecture given by miss maud may babcock of the university of utah on the literature of the bible the ancient book was reviewed from a literary standpoint by the lecturer who introduced no matters or religion in her numerous passages illustrating the various forms of literature that are known at the present time such as proe poetry proverbs songs ballads historical and descriptive writings and narratives were read by miss babcock to show the high degree of excellence some of the ancient writers attained in the literary world compared with the present standard of classical literature the develop 1111 style and idiomatic language was traced through the different books from genesis to revelations to show the difference between some of the earlier and later writers ui works of whom have been complied into one book called the bible the lecturer handled her subject in a masterly way and the body of sunday school workers were well paid for listening to a lecture of that kind the chief aim of the lecture was to create a greater appreciation for tho literary gems that are found in the book of books |
