Show VIOLA she Is innocent Jn of any wrongdoing wrong doing and had nothing to do with the richards affair and the standard and examiner so declare tuesday evening deputy sheriff cave at the request of attorney C C richards and J D skeen served upon the standard publishing company a complaint that the follow ing statements published in the standard and examiner on july alth and were untrue at the station the man was confronted with the young girl upon whom the crime Is alleged to have been committed in the presence of mr richards the girl made tho same that she had previously made to the police in her story the girl implicates an older sister who lives at brigham city since the arrest of mr richards nu berous stories have come to light re gardens the actions of mr richards one alory alleges that soma time ago another stepdaughter of mn ach ards miss viola lewis was in a serious condition and that richards was responsible since that time the girl has not lived at home but ha resided with relatives at brigham city the two papers named have already stated that the statements published in the examiner and standard on said dates reflecting on or tending to rs fleet on the good name and character of miss viola lewis were untrue and that the bame had been recalled and retracted and we again retract and recall said statements and regret that these erroneous statements were published wo believe them to be false and we do not believe that she had anything to do with the perpetration or commission of the crime of rape or attempted rape or any other crime upon the person of her sister or upon any other person we do not believe that viola lewis was in a serious condition or that richards was responsible we pronounce these statements false and we exceedingly regret their publication |
